Ep 28: How to speak with specificity.

If you're not specific enough, you accept the risk of failure. Read that again. This is one of my most powerful communication technique recommendations, and it is also one that people struggle with or completely ignore. The more specific you are, the closer you get to success. Being specific is a trained communication technique and it is far easier than you think to master!

What do we talk about:

  • Specificity is powerful, inside and outside of the workplace.
  • Even medical doctors struggle with this because they did not realize they weren't specific enough! (True story)
  • If you assume people understand you, you risk failure. I tell you real examples of times I have failed my team because I was not specific enough.
  • I give you realistic examples inside and outside of the workplace on how specificity can change your confidence and your communication.
  • The difference is in the details - describe what you are talking about in finite details. Use names, titles, numbers, colors, smells, temperatures, frequency, quantity, data points, statistics, anything that is descriptive, measurable, or identifiable.
